day State Level Inter Collegiate Competitions “SAMPADA – 2K17” on January 25th
2017 . The motive of this programme is
to provide a platform to young students in the knowledge based society. The academic arena is growing with more and

March, 2017 students of IIIBA visited Alankriti Lace Park situated in Narsapur,
West Godavari District.
INPUT OF THE TOUR
Industry visits sensitize
students to the practical challenges that organizations face in the business
world. Industrial visits also give greater clarity about various management
concepts for students as they can practically see how these concepts are put
into action.
Visits to manufacturing firms
are useful for students. To understand the nuances and realities of the
shopfloor, which in itself is a rare exposure. By visiting the shop floor they
get to understand the risky conditions in which workers work, the people
management challenges involved in managing workers a part from getting
hands-on technical knowledge.
Industrial visit has its own importance in a career of a student who is
pursuing a professional degree. It is considered as a part of college
curriculum.
OBJECTIVES OF INDUSTRIAL VISIT
To provide students an insight regarding internal working of companies.
Theoretical knowledge is not
enough for making a good professional career.
With an aim to go beyond academics, industrial visit provides student a
practical perspective on the world of work.
It provides students with an opportunity to learn practically through
interaction, working methods and employment practices.
It gives them exposure to current
work practices as opposed to possibly theoretical knowledge being taught at
college.
Industrial visits provide an
excellent opportunity to interact with industries and know more about
industrial environment.
Industrial visits are arranged by
colleges to students with an objective of providing students functional opportunity
in different sector.
Industrial visit helps to combine
theoretical knowledge with industrial knowledge.
Industrial realities are opened to the students through industrial
visits.
Industrial visits bring awareness and importance of the skill
development for empowerment.
LACE PARK, NARASAPUR, WEST GODAVARI DISTRICT:
When India is under the British Colonial
Rule, the British selected this coastal belt for Trade and Commerce and they
established this skill based lace industry for the empowerment of women. Later it was transformed into one of the
world’s famous lace park ‘ALANKRITI’ in the year 2000. It is an Irish Art which is providing livelihood
initiating from 20,000 to 2,00,000
women. They are also providing health insurance to the
employees and their family members. The
world famous products from this lace industry are table mats, floor mats diwan
sets, door curtains, tops, lace cardigans, lace short sleeve tops, lace long
skirts, kurtas, shrugs, hand bags, stoles
and all varieties of kids wear which are being exported to Swedan and other
foreign countries especially during summer. The raw material is supplied from
Pali, Rajasthan. Threads are available
in Tanuku. It the best established Women’s Self Help Group providing
empowerment and employability to rural women.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
The
visit generally consists of lectures about the industry given by Mr.
Nagabhushanam Naidu, the Project Director, Handicrafts, Alankriti Lace Park,
Narasapur. The learning outcomes from
his lecture, which our students observed in the industry are -

Recognized the process units in lace industry
2.
Identified input and output for the process.
3.
Experienced the importance of working safety.
4.
Understood the concept of lace preparation, generation of output.
5. Understood how does the product interfaced
to the world through exports
6. It was extended to Krishna and East
Godavari Districts also.
7.
National & International Quality standards maintained.
